Owlist is a collaborative platform that relies on our community to maintain and expand our database of entertainment content. The term "data" refers to any information you can see on Owlist—from movie titles and release dates to actor biographies and character descriptions.
To begin contributing, you'll need a free Owlist account. Once registered, you can submit new content or suggest edits to existing pages. All submissions are reviewed by our moderation team to ensure accuracy and quality before being published.
Quick Start

Accuracy & Verification
Our goal is to be the most complete and reliable source of entertainment information. We can only accept submissions that are accurate and verifiable. If our moderation team cannot verify the information you've submitted, your request may be rejected.
Required Information
Each content type has specific required fields. Make sure to fill out all mandatory fields before submitting:
- Movies: Original title, language, country, genre, description, poster, runtime, and status
- TV Shows: Original title, language, country, show type, genre, description, poster, and status
- Books: Original title, language, country, author, publication year, genre, cover, and description
- People: Name (English), profile image, and biographical information
Image Requirements
When uploading images (posters, covers, profile photos), ensure they are high quality, properly formatted, and relevant to the content. Images should be clear, properly cropped, and free from watermarks or text overlays.
How to Submit

Click the "Submit" button in the header menu, or visit /submit

Choose Content Type
Select from Movies, TV Shows, Books, People, Characters, or Companies using the tabs

Fill Out the Form
Complete all required fields with accurate information. Optional fields can be left blank if information is unavailable

Review and Submit
Double-check your information for accuracy, then click "Submit" to send your contribution for review
Editing Existing Content
To suggest edits to existing content, navigate to the content's page and look for the "Suggest Edit" option. Your edits will go through the same review process as new submissions.
Review Process
All submissions are reviewed by our moderation team to ensure accuracy and compliance with our guidelines. The review process typically takes 12-48 hours, though it may take longer during periods of high submission volume.
Tracking Your Submissions
You can track the status of your submissions from your profile page. Navigate to My Submissions to see:
- Pending submissions awaiting review
- Approved submissions that have been published
- Rejected submissions with reasons for rejection
